We all want a hassle free, lovely Christmas and sometimes can’t help but wonder what it would be like to get away from it all and truly embrace the Christmas spirit. Here at Colroger Holiday Cottages we would like to show you the things to do in Cornwall that we like at Christmas to make it really sparkle.
Keep it simple. When it comes to things to do in Cornwall during the wintertime then a walk in the woods or the beach has got to come high on the list. Come down and stay to get a bit of fresh air and family time by picking up some pinecones (or shells on the beach) to make your own decorations to hang on the tree. Just add some glitter! Perfect.
Visit the reindeer and meet Santa at The Eden Project and enjoy the Christmas cheer with a skate on the ice rink, and a wander through the festive displays. Light and sound also enters Eden’s winter wonderland with amazing new light projections, fantastic soundscapes and live music. More info.
To start the countdown to Christmas and to get us in the Christmas mood one of the things to do in Cornwall is the annual Lantern Walk at Trengwainton Garden, where the twinkling walled gardens are decorated with hundreds of fairy lights. It’s great for families who are staying in December as children can make magical memories to take away with them, as they’re able to decorate their own lantern and save it as a keepsake to take home with them. This one is for the brave! Taking a bracing dip in the sea is one of the best things to do in Cornwall on Christmas day, so be bold and brace the cold in Cornwall. Join in a Christmas day or Boxing day swim. A list of some of the events can be found here.
Make your New Year’s Eve special this year and go and watch the spectacular fireworks display on Newquay Harbour. The Central Square has music throughout the afternoon building up to the midnight countdown. The celebrations continue into the night and often there’s a fancy-dress theme on the day so get creative!
Whatever you do this yuletide, enjoy making memories during your stay!
